Volta October 2019 Event - press release

The first sustainability-focused nautical retail company is created in Barcelona

Barcelona, 21 of September 2019

Volta, the first nautical retail company specialised in hybrid, electric and electric-solar vessels is one of the novelties of the Barcelona International Boat Show 2019.

We want to enjoy the sea respecting all the marine life that lives in it. That’s why our goal is to make the navigation more sustainable and clean.
— Xavi Bertran, sales director of Volta

From the 9th to the 13th of October, the Barcelona Boat Show will feature Volta, the first nautical retail company in the Mediterranean with an ecological approach.

With an offer that goes from motorboats and catamarans equipped with solar panels to fully electric jet skis and port boats, Volta shows that there is already another way to navigate. And in the next edition of the SNIB, Volta invites you to take a closer look at its range with the presence of three revolutionary vessels.

Eelex 8000 from X Shore or "The Tesla of the Sea"

An exclusive 100% electric boat with features never seen in its category. Eelex 8000 combines technology, design and craft tradition. The result is an elegant and minimalist boat, but also an ecologically intelligent one. Able to reach 40 knots, its cruising speed is 25 knots and it has a range of 100 miles if navigating at lower speeds. Thanks to its revolutionary propulsion system developed jointly with Rolls Royce, navigation is pleasantly silent and vibration free.

In addition to its exhibition at the boat show, the Eelex 8000 will be available for sea trials from October 4 to 8 at the OneOcean Port Vell.

ZenPro 580 from Naviwatt, the electric harbour boat

The first and only electric professional RIB in the market. Robust and powerful, this boat of the French shipyard Naviwatt, can tow boats of more than 15 tons and transport up to 8 people on board. It offers a maximum speed of 28 knots and an autonomy of up to 13 hours at 3 knots, or 2h at 13 knots, enough for a full day's work at the port. An opportunity to reduce fuel and maintenance costs in ports and marinas and contribute to its environmental improvement.

In addition to its exhibition in the boat show, the ZenPro 580 will be available for sea trials on October 8 at OneOcean Port Vell.

Narke GT45 Electrojet

The world's first electric jet ski designed for mass production. Narke is the alternative to traditional jet ski with a 45 kW electric motor and a lithium-ion battery. With a maximum speed of 30 knots (55 km/h, electronically limited), it offers a mixed cycle autonomy of 1.5 hours and a fast charge in less than 2 hours. Made of carbon fiber, it is light and resistant, and is suitable for 3 passengers.

In addition to its exhibition at the boat show, two Narke jet skis will be available for sea trials on the weekend of October 12 and 13 in Barcelona.

About Volta

The company was born in September 2016 as a distributor of Greenline Yachts in Spain, the pioneer hybrid yacht manufacturer. At the end of 2018, seeing the rise of new eco-friendly brands and the growing awareness among the public, the company decided to expand its offer and launch the Volta brand as the first sustainable nautical retail company.

Volta is currently a distributor of 6 shipyards from Europe and Canada. Its offer includes all types of electric and hybrid boats from 5 to 15 meters: harbour RIBs, boats, yachts, catamarans, jet skis, and electric motors.

What are the advantages of an electric / hybrid boat?

Less emissions and a silent navigation. When navigating in electric, emissions are 0, engine noise is softer and there is less vibration. In hybrid vessels, emissions are also reduced by being able to use electric propulsion. In addition, boats with solar panels generate energy for life on board without needing a generator, which also reduces emissions.

Saving. With the hybrid propulsion, diesel consumption is reduced by 50% or more (depending on the use of the electric motor). In the case of opting for an electric boat, recharging costs 10 times less than fuel.

Easier maintenance. In hybrid vessels, by reducing the use of combustion engines, the frequency of revisions and the probability of breakdowns decreases. Electric propulsion systems, not requiring oil, filters or other spare parts, and being constructively simpler, have fewer breakdowns and repairs are generally easier.

Looking for innovative vessels that use the energy efficiently, respecting the sea and reducing emissions is in our company’s DNA.
— Artëm Loginov, Director of Volta
